Bareos GmbH & Co. KG is happy to announce that it has started a technical alliance partnership with Netapp (NASDAQ: NTAP), simplifying backups (on-premises, hybrid, and cloud) for enterprises using NetApp storage systems.
Bareos supports all mainline NetApp products, including traditional filers (FAS), hybrid systems (HDD/SDD), and all-flash arrays (AFA), as well as S3-compatible targets like NetApp StorageGRID – an ideal solution for customers who are looking for an additional way to back-up their data, for example on external tape drives (physical and virtual), in another cloud or on their own hardware.
Bareos relies on a database backend (SQL) and uses that catalog to index files, volumes, and backup jobs, making it easy for the administrator to locate and restore the data. A scheduler can automatically schedule jobs and define the type of backup (full, incremental, differential). Using the NDMP protocol optimises the performance and reduces the load on storage systems, servers, and networks.
